Battered Tigers return home

The Bangladesh contingent returned to the country today following their disappointing Asia Cup campaign in the UAE. 

The Tigers arrived at around 9:00am today, but none of the cricketers faced the media at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport following touchdown. 

It was learned that Bangladesh team director Khaled Mahmud Sujon stayed back in the UAE with family and will be returning to the country a day later.

Bangladesh, runners-up of the last Asia Cup, return without registering a single win in this edition of the tournament. 

Despite putting up a good fight, Bangladesh were knocked out of the continental tournament after an agonising two-wicket in their do-or-die contest against hosts Sri Lanka on Thursday. Before that, the Shakib Al Hasan-led side suffered a seven-wicket defeat against Mohammad Nabi's Afghanistan in their first match of the Asia Cup. 

The Tigers will now gear up for the upcoming T20 tri-nation series in New Zealand, which will serve as a crucial building block for the T20 World Cup in October.

Bangladesh will participate in a three-day camp in Mirpur, conducted by technical consultant Sridharan Sriram, from September 12.
