Despite a first overseas century from Liton Das, Bangladesh were bowled out for 278 runs in their second innings as the tourists suffered defeat by an innings and 117 runs in the second Test against New Zealand on Tuesday.

Liton scored 102 off 114 deliveries -- his innings featuring 14 fours and a six, before being adjudged lbw against Kyle Jamieson. Liton's effort was the lone success for Bangladesh, who saw a number of batsmen get starts but not converting those starts into something substantial.

Skipper Mominul Haque scored the second-highest 37 while Nurul Hasan scored 36 runs.

Kyle Jamieson took four while Neil Wagner took three wickets for the Kiwis, who had suffered a shock eight-wicket defeat in the first Test in Mount Maunganui.

Bangladesh had folded for 126 runs in their first innings as they had to follow-on, trailing New Zealand's first-innings score of 521/6d by 395 runs.
