Kiwis remove Naim with Tigers living dangerously

Almost halfway into the second session, Bangladesh find themselves on the edge on the third day of the second Test at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch today.

After 40 overs of batting in the second innings, the Tigers, still trailing by 282 runs, are on 113 runs for the loss of three wickets, all of which have resulted from unforced errors from the batters' part. 

Bangladesh started the post-Lunch session with skipper Mominul Haque striking Tim Southee for a boundary in the first delivery. Although in the next over, Kyle Jamieson almost scalped opener Naim Sheikh from a thick inside edge, which fell short of the short leg fielder, much to the relief of the determined debutant.

Even with the dry and sunny conditions generating less swing and seam movement for the Kiwis compared to yesterday, there still remains a small margin for errors for the visitors, who are not accustomed to bat on what seems to be batting-friendly pitch.

Then in the 37th over, Naim, after a cautious stay in the middle, finally fell prey to a wider, fuller Southee delivery with skipper Tom Latham grabbing a blinder at third slip. The debutant faced 98 deliveries for his 24.  

Liton Das joined Mominul at the crease, who has played an unconvincing 29-run off 48 balls so far, as he played and missed on several occasions since Lunch. Liton took 12 balls to get off the mark, with an elegant cover drive for three runs off Trent Boult, who is yet to scalp a wicket in the second innings after his fifer in the first.
