Taijul removes dangerman Powell after Windies stage mini-recovery

The West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran was left a disappointed figure in the middle as rookie batter Kacey Carty threw his wicket away after staging a mini-recovery for the home side in the third and final ODI in Guyana today.

Pooran is leading from the front and took 93 balls to score his ninth fifty of his ODI career as the Windies find themselves on 120 for five after 37.3 overs. Big-hitter Rovman Powell was the latest to depart to become Taijul Islam's third victim of the day so far.

The hosts, after reeling on 19 for three, pulled off their first fifty partnership of the series when Carty dispatched a Mehedi Miraz delivery with a lofted on drive over the long on. However, four overs later, a mistimed shot saw Carty scoop one in the air to get dismissed, out for a 66-ball 33 against the run of play.

In the process, Nasum Ahmed -- player-of-the-match of the previous game – had his first wicket of the game with a short-pitched ball but Carty, while batting on 19,  could've been Afif Hossain's scalp instead had wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan Sohan grabbed the catch following a faint outside-edge.
