Bangladesh Police have announced a bounty of Tk 10 lakh each on the two death-row convicts who were whisked away from a Dhaka court this noon.

"A reward of Tk 10 lakh will be given to help arrest each of the two militants who escaped from the court," reads an SMS sent by Police Headquarters.

The two convicts are Moinul Hasan Shamim and Abu Siddiq Sohel.

Sohel is also a death-row convict in the case filed over the 2015 murder of blogger-writer Avijit Roy.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan at a programme said they have issued a red alert across the country to arrest them.

Forces at the borders have been asked to remain vigilant so that the militant cannot escape the country, the minister said.
