Users in India can now use WhatsApp to shop for groceries online, owing to WhatsApp's new collaboration with the Indian e-commerce company JioMart.

The new integration will allow Indian WhatsApp users to browse the JioMart catalogue, add products to an online cart and pay for the online orders through the WhatsApp app. All this can be done without leaving the WhatsApp chat menu.

This service is accessible by sending 'Hi' to the verified JioMart number on WhatsApp, which will provide users with access to the JioMart online shop. As per the latest announcements, only groceries can be bought using this online shopping feature.

According to WhatsApp, this is their first end-to-end shopping integration on the platform, with the JioMart integration aiming to accelerate India's digital transformation and improve the country's economic growth.

Regarding this new feature, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, said that chat-based experiences like this will help people and business communications in the future to come.
