President Md Zillur Rahman, died on
20 March. He was the 3rd Bangladesh
president to die in office.

 

Awami League leader Syeda Zohra Tajuddin, wife of the country's first Prime Minister Tajuddin Ahmad, died on December 20.

 

 

At 95 he had to say good bye to the world. With Nelson Mandela breathing his last, an era of the anti-apartheid movement came to an end. He was born in 1918.

 

Dubbed as the “Iron lady”, Margaret Thatcher,
the first female Prime Minister of the UK,
had died of a stroke on August 4, 2013. She was 87.

 

 

 

Veteran photo journalist Aftab Ahmed was murdered on December 25 last year. He was born in 1934.

 

 

The prominent actor Anwar Hossain died on September 13. He is best known for playing Siraj ud-Daulah in a famous Bengali film in 1967.

 

 

Theatre and TV actor Khaled Khan breathed his last on December 20. He was suffering from progressive motor neuron disease for nearly 12 years.

 

 

The renowned Indian playback singer died on October 23. His peak period in Hindi playback singing is from 1953-1976.

 

 

Jamal Nazrul Islam, the renowned Bangladeshi mathematical physicist and cosmologist passed away on March 16, 2013. He was 74.

 

 

On August 31, David Frost, best known for his series of interviews with former US President Richard Nixon following his resignation from office, died of a heart attack. He began his career hosting a satirical news program called "That Was the Week That Was" and went on to interview nearly every British Prime Ministers and US Presidents of his day.

 

 

One of the most vocal and controvercial leaders of Latin America as well as a flamboyant public speaker Hugo Chavez passed away on March 5. Chavez is beleived to have influenced the current South American political setting in several respects.
