Voting closes with no reports of violence

Voting in the Gazipur City Corporation election ended after eight hours, during which there was no report of violence.

Counting of votes began shortly after balloting ended at 4:00pm

However, the presence of the ruling Awami League was overwhelming inside and outside some polling centres since the voting started at 8:00am.

A total of 11,79,476 voters were expected to exercise their franchise. Of them, 5,92,762 are male, 5,86,696 female and 18 are transgender.

The voting held using the electronic voting machinea at 480 polling centres under the GCC area.
