BCL, JCD welcome DU admission seekers on campus

Queuing up opposite each other by forming an aisle between them, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders welcomed students who had come to take the admission test on the Dhaka University campus today (June 4, 2022).

Many on the campus were delighted to see such a scene on the campus between the two rival groups which are student wings of the ruling Awami League and BNP.

Clashes had ensued recently between the BCL and JCD activists on the DU campus, and near the High Court area in Dhaka, which had a ripple effect as far as Khulna.

For the past few days, BCL men were accused of not allowing JCD activists to enter the campus. The student group were also allegedly attacked on several occasions when they tried to enter the campus.

Admission test for the "Kha" unit under the Faculty of Arts was held for the academic year 2021-2022 today.

On the day of the admission test, there were no obstructions by any of the student leaders. The university administration expects such cooperation from all the organisations to maintain a cordial atmosphere of education on the campus, said Proctor Prof Dr AKM Golam Rabbani.

At 12:30 pm, when the admission test was over, the student leaders came to the gate of Curzon Hall and started welcoming the students who had left the examination hall with flowers and pens.

Students talking to The Daily Star also expressed that such peaceful programmes, centring the admission test will help restore peace on the campus.
