Rajshahi University authorities have suspended a student of Law department for allegedly harassing a teacher of the same department.

An office order, signed by RU Proctor Prof Ashabul Haque, was issued in this regard this afternoon (June 29, 2022), reports our RU correspondent.

Ashik Ullah, a master's student, was a resident of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman hall, said the office order.

Talking to our RU correspondent, Proctor Prof Ashabul Haque said Ashik had been violating university discipline for a long time. Earlier, he misbehaved with and allegedly gave death threats to his teacher and classmates. Additionally, he harassed teacher Prof Begum Asma Siddiqua at the department premises this morning.

"So the authority decided to suspend Ashik Ullah, following a verbal order of the Vice chancellor", Prof Ashabul added.

Disciplinary committee would take further action after investigation, he said.

Mentionable, earlier in the morning, students of RU's Law department demonstrated and demanded that Ashik be expelled.
