Ashulia teacher killing: Classes resume at Haji Yunus Ali College

Classes at Haji Yunus Ali College resumed today (July 2, 2022), five days after closure following murder of its teacher Utpal Kumar Sarker in Savar's Ashulia.  

Primary classes resumed at 7:30am and high school and college classes resumed at 11am.

Saiful Hasan, principal of Haji Yunus Ali College, told The Daily Star, "After yesterday's announcement, we have started classes from today. In the school section, 53 percent students attended classes and 60 percent attended in the college section, he added."

Eid holidays will start from tomorrow. The school will remain closed till July 16 on the occasion of Eid.

Utpal Kumar Sarkar (35) was a lecturer of political science at Haji Yunus Ali School and College in Ashulia's Chitrasail area. He died after a student hit him with a cricket stump on June 25, 2022.
