Recently, the Daily Star caught up with the celebrated journalist to get insights into his perspectives on showbiz and more.

In your extensive journalism career, how do you think showbiz industry has evolved?

Digitisation has reshaped a lot of things in the industry, making it both easier and faster to reach audiences in a short span of time. While the younger generation readily adapts to these changes, older artistes often struggle to keep pace. The globalisation driven by digitisation has intensified competition, emphasizing the importance of maintain quality.

However, syndication in both TV and OTT has posed challenges for young artistes, as familiar faces and pairings are frequently recycled to boost viewership, which makes it monotonous for the audience.

Who amongst the young artistes do you believe has a promising future in OTT?

I am genuinely impressed by Tasnia Farin's work; her powerful expression and impeccable dialogue delivery suggest a bright future. Khairul Basar and Shohel Mondol have also excelled in the world of OTT, and I have high hopes for their continued success.

You have interviewed numerous celebrities. Who stands out as particularly memorable?

Jaya Ahsan is exceptionally cooperative and professional, consistently delivering outstanding performances and earning favour with photographers. This sentiment extends to Shampa Reza, Mahiya Mahi, and many other artistes, whose photos are simply breathtaking. However, in terms of interviews, it often seems that celebrities are hesitant to fully open up to the media and answer probing questions. They strive to protect their image, often avoiding straightforward responses.

Many artistes and directors have transitioned from TV to OTT. What are your thoughts on this trend?

OTT presents a new platform with substantial budget, attracting both creators and actors. Actors are keen to embrace this medium as it allows them to reach global audience. However, there is a tendency to repeatedly cast popular actors in OTT productions. For example, Chanchal is a popular actor. But excessive screen time in OTT content might bore the audience.
