I’m trying to shed that skin and be reborn: The Weeknd on final album

Abel Tesfaye, also known as The Weeknd has recently said in an interview with W Magazine that he wants to ditch his current moniker. The four-time Grammy winner mentioned, "The album I'm working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I've said everything I can say."

He also mentioned, "I'm going through a cathartic path right now. It's getting to a place and a time where I'm getting ready to close The Weeknd chapter. I'll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I'm definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn".

His next project is an HBO series called "The Idol", where he stars opposite Lily Rose Depp. Abel is also the co-creator along with Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim. The singer made his acting debut in "Uncut Gems" in 2019, starring as himself. He is also reportedly starring in a mystery project with Jenna Ortega.
