CU BCL blockade suspended

The protesting members and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Chittagong University (CU) unit have suspended their programmes on the campus.

Confirming the suspension, Rakibul Hasan Dinar, vice-president of CU BCL unit and leader of BCL sub-party Red Signal group, said, "The ongoing blockade programme has been suspended as per the instructions of Chattogram City Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin,"

The protesters announced the withdrawal of the blockade around 12am today (September 20, 2022), reports our staff correspondent.'

Nayan Chandra Modak, leader of BCL sub-party Bijoy Group and deputy affairs secretary of Chhatra League, told The Daily Star, "We have suspended the ongoing movement thinking about the general students and respecting the proctorial body."

"We have been demanding the extension of the committee from the very beginning," he said, adding, "If the central leaders do not accept the demand, we will be forced to take further steps."
