CU Islamic History students demand exam dates

Students of Islamic History and Culture department of Chittagong University (CU) yesterday have kept their classrooms under lock and key for four hours demanding immediate announcement of dates for their examination.

The agitation was triggered by the authorities' failure to hold the 4th year honours final examinations of the students of 2001-2002 session who finished their classes more than 15 month ago, alleged the students.

Earlier, the authorities announced dates for the examinations at least three times, but failed to hold the examinations in the scheduled time, they said.

The students alleged that non-cooperation and personal conflict among the teachers of the department is responsible for the situation.

The students have kept the classrooms locked demanding immediate announcement of their examination date from 8:30am to 12:30pm, sources said.

Later, the rooms were opened following an assurance from the dean of the Arts Faculty and chairman of the department in this regard.
