3 held for raping 17-year-old in Moulvibazar

A 17-year-old was gang-raped, allegedly by three people, in Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar last night. 

Being informed by locals, a team of Kulaura Police Station arrested the three alleged rapists this morning, said Eardous Hasan, officer-in-charge of the police station.

The arrestees -- Kashem Ali (23), Arjan Ali (24), and Rajesh Sutradhar alias Pappu (21) -- were sent to jail by a district court this evening after the girl filed a rape case against five people including the trio, said the OC.

The girl was taken to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for medical test, our correspondent reports quoting the OC.

According to the case statement, the girl, a resident of Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali, came to visit her step-sister in a village in Kulaura recently.

Imran Hossain, step-father of the girl, took her to Station Road area of Kulaura municipality yesterday evening.

Around 8:00pm, Imran took Tk 3,100 from Kashem Ali and his two accomplices -- Arjan and Rajesh-- and handed over the girl to the trio, according to the case statement.

Kashem and his two accomplices took the girl -- in an autorickshaw -- to an abandoned house in ​​Karmadha union and raped her there, the case statement says.

Locals rescued the girl this morning, caught the three rapists and handed them over to the police, OC Eardous Hasan further said.

The girl's step-father Imran Hossain was made the main accused in the case, said the OC, adding that Imran and the unidentified autorickshaw driver remain absconding.
