Emon The Entertainer
Before setting foot into acting, Emon made a name for himself in the modeling world. Since then, the artiste has captured the hearts of many across the nation, thanks to his array of roles both on the small and silver screen. This Eid, the actor will be seen in several special television programmes. He takes out some time to speak to The Daily Star about his latest projects.
Even though you are known for acting in films, you have done quite a few television projects. Why so?
Emon: I enjoy acting in films, but many television directors frequently approach me with good projects. Especially during Eid, every director wants to put out quality entertainment. I feel fortunate to be a part of so many different great projects during the season.
Tell us about your Eid projects.
Emon: I have finished shooting for a seven-episode telefilm called Bhalobasha Tomar Amar. I have also wrapped up two telefilms called Roddure Likhechchi Tomar Naam and Potrait. I shot for a telefilm in Cox's Bazar as well. I have worked with director Ferdous Hasan Rana and actors Purnima and Monalisa this Eid.
What are some films that you are working on at the moment?
Emon: Presently, I am shooting for Paap Kahini, Shahoshi Joddha, and Amar Shidhaanto. I am also working on a film from Kolkata called Cinemar Shob Choritro Kaalponik.
What are your aspirations, in terms of the type of cinema that you want to work on?
Emon: I describe myself as a fan of Bangladeshi cinema. I want to be part of projects that will help me grow and evolve as an artiste, while at the same time take the industry forward. People still talk about Lal Tip and Podmo Patar Jol, so I want to continue entertaining my audience with films of the same caliber as those.
What are your plans for Eid?
Emon: I will spend time with my family. Every year on Eid, my mom cooks polao, which I look forward to. I also love having my wife's special tandoori chicken! A few days after Eid, I plan to go abroad, on vacation, with my family.
