Interview

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, NIPUN!

I couldn't sleep out of worry that my hair would get messed up

Three-time National Film Award winner Nipun has acted in TV plays occasionally despite a tight shooting schedule for films. She also does the occasional TVC. The actor will celebrate her birthday today. She shared her birthday plans with The Daily Star in a recent conversation:

What are your birthday plans this year?

Nipun: No plans for a grand celebration as I'm now neck deep in my Coffee Shop business venture. But I'll definitely cut a cake with my family.

What is your first emotion when you wake up that day?

Nipun: It's always a good feeling, but sometimes I feel gloomy because another year has gone by from my life.

Who is usually the first to wish you on your birthday?

Nipun: This year my two nieces have already sent me greeting cards from London.

What's the best birthday gift you receive?

Nipun: Every year since she turned three, my daughter gifts me cards that she has made. I hope this time too she will send me her self-made card, which is really my best gift on my birthday.

Which of your birthdays has been the best?

Nipun: For the last few years, I have celebrated the day at a restaurant but last year I celebrated it with the media at my home. It was really a special birthday.

Any memorable childhood birthday celebrations?

Nipun: It was my 15th birthday. My father was the Deputy Commissioner of Noakhali where there was no beauty parlour at the time. That's why I styled my own hair at home the night before. I couldn't sleep out of worry that my hair would get messed up. I still laugh when I recall this.
