IGCC celebrates sixth anniversary at BNM
In celebration of its 6th founding anniversary, Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) organised an event of music and dance this weekend at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM).
Dr. Gowher Rizvi, International Affairs Advisor to Prime Minister graced the occasion as chief guest. High Commissioner of India, Harsh Vardhan Shringla attended the occasion as guest of honour. Faizul Latif Chowdhury, DG, BNM wsa also present at the programme.
Terming the historic India-Bangladesh relationship as identical regarding literature, language, culture and heritage, Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, “IGCC has been promoting not only culture of Bangladesh and India but also all the genres of art and culture of the subcontinent.”
He also mentioned Dr. Gowher Rizvi as his mentor who has single-handedly taken the cultural fraternity between two countries to new heights.
Teachers and students of IGCC performed music, dance and a magnificent display of yoga. Dr. Aparna Pandey, Hindi teacher, led her students a choral song -- “Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Data” that set off the event. Accomplished dancer-choreographer Warda Rihab with her students beautifully performed a Manipuri dance titled 'Leichen'. The scintillating production aesthetically shed light on the eternal love and unison of soul between Radha and Krishna.
Presentation of a Qawaali song by Hindustani classical voc al music teacher Santosh Kumar Mishra and his students was a musical treat to the audience. Yoga teacher Dr. Brajesh Singh and his students enthralled the packed audience mingling their artistic display of corporal gestures with the spirituality. Sankari Mridha, Bharatnatyam Guru of IGCC, showcased a riveting solo piece that thoroughly sings the praises of Lord Shiva.
Later, the Chief Guest and the High Commissioner distributed certificates among the teachers and students of IGCC. Ms. Manusmriti, Second Secretary (Political and Visa) of Indian High Commission, emceed the event.
