Poetry and Ghazals at IGCC
Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) is organising back to back evenings of poetry recitation and ghazals at its Gulshan premises today and tomorrow.
Dr. Ranjit Kumar Biswas, ndc, Secretary, Cultural Affairs Ministry, will recite poems today, while Sheikh Jasim Uddin Kabir at Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre, Gulshan-1, Dhaka at 6:30 pm on March 21.
Biswas is an ardent lover of art and culture. A short story writer, columnist, satirist and a cricket analyst of countrywide repute, he contributes to national and regional dailies.
He is also a connoisseur of music and recitation, and has earned appreciation, laurels and awards for literary acumen.
Kabir of Brahmanbaria started his formal education in music in the late 1970s and has trained under prominent Ustads -- Ustad Mafiqul Islam, Jagatanand Barua, Syed Zakir Hussain from Bangladesh and from late Ustad Sagir Uddin Khan of India.
A talented singer, Kabir won “Sangeet Mukul” in classical music. The acclaimed music composer has composed songs for renowned singers like Kumar Biswajit, Tapan Chowdhury, Samina Chowdhury, Andrew Kishor, Mamtaz, Baby Naznin and others.
