Images of different traditional birds, animals, decorated pots and different musical instruments are being made at the department premises to add more colour to the  procession.

Head of Fine Arts Department, Tapon Kumar Sarker, Safin Omar, Masum Hawlader and Nagarbasi Barmon are guiding the students as they prepare for the festival.

“We have included more items this year,” said Tapon Kumar, while the teachers said that the festivities are meant to shake off the hurdles of the previous year and impart new spirit.

Students of Fine Arts Department will also organise a “Fanush Festival”, and “Aatashbaji” marking 'Chaitra Sankranti', the last day of current Bengali Year-1421.

Meanwhile, a day long programme marking the celebrations include traditional games and sports, a play by Natyakala Department artistes; and a musical soiree by Music Department artistes of the university.

“We hope that people of all communities will participate in the New Year celebrations,” said Professor Mohit Ul Alam, vice-chancellor of the university.
