CPJA holds photo exhibition

Aiming at enhancing social immediacy between India and Bangladesh, a three-day photo exhibition of photojournalists from the two countries ended at Zainul Abedin Art Gallery of Chittagong District Shilpakala Academy in the port city on Saturday.

A total of 41 photojournalists from India and Bangladesh took part at the exhibition.

To mark its 30th founding anniversary, Chittagong Photo Journalist Association (CPJA) jointly with Agartala Press Club of India organised the exhibition, titled “Motree”.

Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest.

A total of 42 images of 22 photojournalists from Chittagong and 19 from India were on display at the exhibition. The photographs depicted the tribal life and culture in the region, different kinds of festivals including the religious ones, while heritage and historical places of Agartala also got room in the exhibition.

Chaired by CPJA's President Masiur Rahman Badal, the inauguration was addressed by AJM Nasir; Mesbah Uddin, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Chittagong and Chitra Roy, vice-president of Agartala Press Club, CPJA general secretary Rashed Mahmud and Agartala Press Club Assistant General Secretary Pranab Chakraborty.

On the occasion, three editors — Dainik Azadi editor MA Malek, Dainik Purbokone editor architect Taslim Uddin Chowdhury and Purbodesh editor Osman Gani Mansur from Bangladesh, and India's Dainik Desher Katha advisor Goutam Das were accorded honours on September 2.  Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Prime Minister's information affairs advisor and Somnath Halder, Indian Assistant High Commissioner to Chittagong spoke at the programme.
