Platform’s ‘Ek Kodom’ underway at AJ Tower

Platform, an art, entertainment and media production company, has organised a contemporary art show, titled Ek Kodom, featuring artworks by three young artists, Azizee Fawmi Khan, Rakib Anwar, and Anisuzzaman Faroque. The exhibition is currently underway at AJ Tower, Kawran Bazar. State Minister for the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, MP, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest on January 4.

Director General of Bangla Academy Habibullah Siraji, renowned artists, Monirul Islam, Professor Abul Barq Alvi, Wakilur Rahman, Professor Md Anisuzzaman, Firoz Mahmud and Bishwajit Goswami attended the art exhibition as distinguished guests, among others.

Dhaka, a mega city, has reached astonishing growth, from a population of three million in 1980 to 21 million today - creating hopes, dreams and challenges for the citizens, while accommodating urban and social changes, every day. The city teems with life and energy, yet, it is alienating, disorienting and in many cases, intimidating.

To that end, Ek Kodom is an attempt to present the diversity of Dhaka through a celebratory environment, full of artworks from diverse media, including paintings, sculptures, and installations. Portraying the modern aspects of the city, the artists, in a synchronal mutual interest, have worked on thoughtful material experimentations. Each of the artists has a distinguished style, in terms of their working process and media selection. Yet, all their artworks express a cohesive theme.

From the pointed expressions of Azizee’s paintings, the subtle drama of Rakib’s drawings to the wit and charm of Anisuzzaman’s sculptures, Ek Kodom explores a broad range of elements. It is the first edition of a series of exhibitions, based on Dhaka, initiated by Platform. 

Aside from exhibitions, Platform aims to create, produce and distribute different forms of entertainment for both local and international audiences. The initiative also includes artists’ talks, curators’ talks and a musical performances. The exhibition, open from 5 pm to 9 pm (from Monday to Saturday), will conclude on January 11.
