KRISHNOPOKKHO SCREENED AT GENEVA FESTIVAL

“Krishnopokkho”, the Humayun Ahmed classic brought to life by his widow Meher Afroz Shaon ,has already made waves in the country's cinematic scene. Now the film has made a mark far away in Geneva, Switzerland. The film, selected in the competition category of the 11th Geneva International Film Festival, was screened yesterday at the Grutli Theatre on the closing day of the festival.

A three-member delegation, led by Impress Telefilm (which is the producer of the film) managing director Faridur Reza Sagor are in Geneva to attend the festival. They were also scheduled to attend a number of forums at the festival.

A total of 80 full-length feature films and 30 documentaries from 30 countries were screened at the festival at four venues, organisers informed.

“Krishnopokkho”, released February 26, casts Riaz and Mahi in the lead characters of Muhib and Oru. Azad Abul Kalam, Tania Ahmed, Faruk Ahmed, Moutushi Biswas, Kayes Chowdhury, Wahida Mollick Jolly, Arfan Ahmed, Rafiqullah Salim, Shadhin Khosru, Tariq Swapan and Joyita Mahalanabish are also in the cast, while Ferdous plays a special guest role.

The de-glamourised storytelling style with relatable characters and intricate dynamics of human relationships make “Krishnopokkho” an endearing affair. The cinematography, sound and dialogues are done with care, and the final product is a heartfelt tribute to Humayun Ahmed's storytelling genius.
