In memory of Mrinal Sen
The late filmmaker Mrinal Sen's contribution to cinema truly exemplifies the work of a maestro. Not only did he use cinema as a means of entertainment, but he also believed that it could be utilised to educate and enlighten the audience. The third of the Ray-Ghatak-Sen trio leading the new wave in Indian cinema, Mrinal Sen's various critically-acclaimed films gave a new meaning to Bengali cinema.
A national memorial has been organised to pay tribute to the late filmmaker today. The memorial will be held at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's (BSA), National Music and Dance Auditorium at 5:30 pm. The event will be organised on behalf of BSA, Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Short Film Forum.
