Minions crosses $500m mark at foreign BO
Kevin, Stuart and Bob are making their masters very happy as “Minions” has crossed the $500 million mark at the international box office, Universal Pictures announced Monday.
The comedy opened in first place in 55 territories, setting the record in 29 markets, including Brazil, France, Mexico, Russia and the U.K., for biggest opening weekend of all time for an animated movie.
“Minions” is also Universal's highest-grossing debut ever in seven territories and became the top launch of any film in Russia and Venezuela. “Minions” has hauled $261.6 million in the U.S. after three weekends.
But it's not over. “Minions” still has plenty of gas in the tank with seven more markets to go, including China, Korea, Japan, Italy, Turkey, Greece and Slovenia.
