WATCH: 'Ghostbusters' trailer features assortment of apparitions
Want a look at the incorporeal creatures that will be infesting New York City in this year's "Ghostbusters" movie? The new trailer contains plenty of spooks as well as a clutch of references to the original 1984 film.
Comedy actresses Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones star in the franchise's third film, together forming a team to combat the phantoms, and helped (or hindered) by their eager receptionist, played by Chris Hemsworth.
The green gooey ghost Slimer makes a comeback from 1984's franchise opener, while there's a reference to its climactic showdown -- and the film franchise's logo -- when an enormous white monster is introduced.
There's also a library-based haunt and a callback to Bill Murray's classic lines about mass hysteria.
But this isn't the same movie -- this time, it's an all-woman team taking on the might of the underworld.
"Ghostbusters" arrives the week of July 15 in the US and Canada as well as swathe of international territories, expanding worldwide over the following weeks.
