You just directed your first play. How was the experience?
Hridi Huq: My first directed play is called Gohor Baadshah O Banechha Pori. It has been well-received by the masses, and we have been getting a lot of encouragement. The audience has not seen a play quite like this before.
What genre does the play fall under?
Hridi Huq: The play is a musical folk production. I have essayed a part in the play as well, and I have my team of fifty people with me.
What can you tell us about your upcoming directorial projects in the theatre arena?
Hridi Huq: My upcoming directorial venture is still in the primary stages of production. Kazi Nazrul Islam, in his time joined a leto, a travelling theatrical group, the concept of which has now vanished. Our play will be about that, particularly from the years 1905 to 1911. The script is penned by Ratan Siddiqui. We will begin working in six months on the play.
You also act in theatre. What are you currently working on?
Hridi Huq: I am working on Kritodasher Hashi, based on Shawkat Osman's novel.
Are you directing any tele-fictions right now?
Hridi Huq: I am directing a TV serial with our own production house. We have completed most of the shooting for it. I cannot reveal the name of the serial yet.
