Poddo Patar Jol is drawing a large number of women: Emon
Over the last few years, Emon has established himself as a formidable leading man of the silver screen. His latest film “Poddo Patar Jol”, which was released across the country during Eid, has captured the imagination of the audience. Emom visited a number of places for the movie's promotion. In a recent conversation with The Daily Star, the actor spoke about the project. Excerpts:
How has the audience responded to your new film?
Emon: We have had an immensely positive feedback. The viewers have flocked to the cinemas in large numbers to watch the film. It's very satisfying as an actor.
What segment of the audience is largely watching the film?
Emon: Around 80 percent of the film's audience comprises women. It's a very clean, family-friendly film, and I believe it owes its success to that factor.
Have you been promoting the film?
Emon: I went to watch the film with viewers at three cinema halls in Dhaka. I also visited the theatres in Narsingdi and Keraniganj outside Dhaka. My next destinations are Mymensingh and Chittagong.
What was the movie-goers' reaction at the last venue?
Emon: We were at Narsingdi, and got a brilliant response from the audience. The cinema hall was so overcrowded that many ticket holders had to return home without watching the film. The film was acclaimed too.
How many days did it take you to film “Poddo Patar Jol”?
Emon: Around 87 days. It's a record for us, because that is a long time in a film actor's calendar. But the director and us had give more time to deliver a good film.
Tell us about Mim as a co-artiste.
Emon: It's always a pleasure to work with her. I have worked with Mim in the film “Jonakir Alo” previously, but this was our first all out 'commercial' film. She has done incredibly well in it.
