Steve Martin, once a supremely popular stand-up comic, gave up that career decades ago unannounced, when his film career took off. And this week, he came back on stage to do his first stand-up set in 35 years, opening the show for Jerry Seinfeld at New York's Beacon Theatre. He joked that he had to do it after losing a bet to Seinfeld.
