Shusmita Anis to launch “Shishirer Sporsho Gaantha”
Nazrul Sangeet artiste Shusmita Anis will launch her solo album “Shishirer Sporsho Gatha” today (August 13). The launching ceremony will be held at the ballroom of the Westin Dhaka this evening. Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will launch the album in the presence of special guest former secretary and musicologist M Asaf-ud-daula , and other distinguished guests.
Shusmita Anis is the niece and disciple of noted Nazrul artiste, the late Feroza Begum. She has a number of albums to her credit. Shusmita Anis said, “I am dedicating this album to my aunt Feroza Begum, as she was my guru and my inspiration. I started learning music from her when I was a child. Nazrul Sangeet was very close to her heart and this album is my tribute to her ahead of her first death anniversary, on September 9.”
She also added, “The album has an emotional place in my heart, and I hope the audience will like it. It's the first album that I am releasing after the death of Feroza Begum. She always suggested that I release a new album, but I was more focused on learning from her instead of spending time for albums. Now I think time has come to release it.”
“The appeal of Nazrul Sangeet is timeless and many singers present it in different style or gayaki. But I try to sing the way I learnt from my aunt. Moreover, some of the songs in the album were recorded earlier by her,” the artiste added.
The album features 10 popular tracks including “Laal Tuktuke Bou Jaye Go”, “Esho Hey Sajal Shyamol”, “Pori Zafrani Ghagri”, “Haire Pora Banshi”, “Cholre Cholre Chol”, “Boishakhi Jhor Elore”, “Shukno Patar Nupur Paye”, Ami Jaar Nupurer Chhondo”, and “Chomke Chomke”.
