'Rogue Nation' tops foreign BO
“Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” dominated the foreign box office, topping overseas charts for the third consecutive weekend.
The fifth film in Paramount's spy franchise racked up a leading $46.1 million, pushing its global total to $373.4 million. It should pass $400 million next week.
The weekend's two big domestic releases didn't make many waves at foreign multiplexes. North American champ “Straight Outta Compton” doesn't begin its foreign rollout until next week, only opening in Trinidad and other Caribbean Islands this weekend, where it made $15,000. Universal Pictures co-financed the picture with Legendary Entertainment.
Warner Bros.' “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.” hoped for a warmer reception overseas after collapsing stateside. The big screen version of the 1960s television show racked up $12 million in 23 markets, including such significant territories as Australia, Russia, the United Kingdom, Spain and Germany.
