Sofia Coppola joins “The Beguiled” remake
Sofia Coppola will write and direct a remake of “The Beguiled”, the 1971 drama that starred Clint Eastwood, an individual familiar with the deal informed Variety magazine.
Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning are in talks to star in the film.
The original story followed an injured Confederate soldier (played by Eastwood) who found refuge at an all-girls boarding school during the Civil War and conned his way into several lonely women's hearts.
This would mark a reunion for Coppola and Fanning, who starred in the filmmaker's drama “Somewhere”. Coppola is also a frequent collaborator with Dunst, who has appeared in a handful of her films, including “Marie Antoinette”.
