Noted artiste and cultural personality Afzal Hossain is trying his best to stay busy as he self-isolates at home at this time of crisis. In a candid chat with The Daily Star, the actor shares what he has been up to and more.

How are you spending your time these days?

I have been writing, painting and reading a lot. I am working from home at the moment, and staying connected with my colleagues. Honestly speaking, I am not enjoying my days at home. This time is different from a vacation. Everyone is stressed out at the moment, as we are all uncertain about how things will unfold.

What were the last projects that you worked on?

I was working on a film, titled Maniker Lal Kakra, based on Manik Bandopadhyay's life. We made a lot of progress with the shooting, but due to concerns over the coronavirus, we had to stop the production for now.

Many are reluctant to self-isolate at this time. What are your thoughts about that?

Unfortunately, people are still not taking the issue seriously. I think we need to raise awareness about the pandemic across Bangladesh, in both rural and urban areas.

Do you have anything else to say to our readers in these troubling times?

I would request everyone to follow the instructions of the government. The best way to get through this crisis right now, is to stay home. Everyone should also maintain proper hygiene and wash their hands frequently.
