Bangladesh Film Censor Board bans Anonno Mamun's film ‘Makeup’

A snippet from the film.

"Makeup", a film directed by Anonno Mamun with Tariq Anam Khan, Ziaul Roshan and Nipa Ahmed Real in prominent roles, was previewed by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board recently. Subsequently, the board members decided to ban the film.

Khorshed Alam Khosru, President of Bangladesh Film Producers' Association confirmed the news to The Daily Star. "We made this decision after watching the film. It is yet to be approved by our chairman and the ministry," he said. "However, we found the content offensive. The movie portrays the film industry in a negative light."

Tariq Anam Khan also shared his thoughts on the matter.  "I have acted in the movie, but no one knows the final product better than the director himself. I have not watched the whole film," he shares. "I did not find anything offensive or negative in the scenes that I worked on. However, the censor board has the right to take a decision, keeping our country's reputation in mind."

The director of "Makeup" was arrested recently, after his portrayal of the police in his film "Nabab LLB", sparked controversy. The film stars Shakib Khan, Mahiya Mahi and Orchita Sporshia.
