‘Chaapchitra Shommanona Prodorshoni 2021’ underway at Kala Kendra
The exhibition, "Chaapchitra Shommanona Prodorshoni 2021", organised by Kibria Printmaking Studio and Kala Kendra began yesterday. Every year, this exhibition starts with the Kibria International Print Fair, but this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the organisers were unable to organise the festival.
The event was inaugurated in a small ceremony. Celebrated artist and cartoonist Rafiqun Nabi attended the programme as the chief guest and noted artist Tanim Ud Dowlah was present as the special guest.
This year, the lifetime achievement award will be given to popular artist Ratan Mazumder, who played an important role in modernising the art form of printmaking. Alongside his masterpieces, the works of four promising artists are currently on exhibit under Kibria Printmaking Studio's "Artists in Residence" programme. The artists are Rafiqul Islam, Sushmita Borua, Nasrin Jahan Anika, and Farhia Rahman.
"Chaapchitra Shommanona Prodorshoni 2021" also showcases works by Monirul Islam, Rafiqun Nabi, Mahmudul Haque, Syed Abul Barq Alvi, Kalidas Karmakar, Shahid Kabir, and AKM Alamgir Huque, all of whom have been honoured with the Kibria lifetime achievement award in previous years.
The exhibition, which is open for all from 4 pm to 8 pm every day, concludes on February 26.
