Dhor Nirbhoy Gaan: Chhayanaut's tribute to Tagore
Marking Rabindranath Tagore's 160th birth anniversary, Chhayanaut organised a virtual cultural programme. Titled Dhor Nirbhoy Gaan, the theme of the event was to hope, and to be brave. Artistes performed works by Tagore, which sing praise of life and the joy of living, bravery, and hope. The virtual concert featured musical performances, dances, poetry recitals and more. It aired on Chhayanaut's YouTube channel tonight.
As the country battles Covid-19, various organisations have opted for celebrating the day virtually. Chhayanaut was no different.
"It is true that performing virtually is not as fulfilling as performing in front of a live audience. We feel more connected that way," said Laisa Ahmed Lisa, General Secretary of Chhayanaut. She said that the performers had been preparing for the event for the past two weeks. They performed from their respective homes and their performances were compiled and aired during the show. "We want to spread hope in the hearts of people, and assure them that there are better days to come," she added.
Tagore's works such as Nai nai bhoy, hobe hobe joy, Bhoy theke jatra koro, Ami marer sagor pari debo and E durbhaga desh hote among others, were performed at the event.
