Celebrated actor Apu Biswas has garnered many fans and admirers over the years. She shares one of her most favourite memories with a fan with The Daily Star.

A while ago, I was shooting at Cox's Bazar, a young boy, claiming that he was a fan, came to meet me. I am always glad to interact with my fans personally, but to my surprise, he proposed to me for marriage right away!

He tried to persuade me, telling me that he ran a betel-nut business. I knew that fans can do bizarre things at times, I tried to stay as calm as possible. I told him that he was a very good-looking young man and that if looks after his business properly, he will have a bright future. He asked me whether I will marry him or not, if he establishes himself in the future. I replied, "Yes, why not?"

Over the years, I had totally forgotten about the incident. One day, the boy came to Dhaka to visit me. He reminded me about our conversation that we had seven years ago, and also brought a present for me. I asked him teasingly, "do you still want to marry me?" He was embarrassed and said that he felt guilty about his behaviour all those years ago. He also brought his wife with him that day. He told me that they got married several months ago, and that my words inspired him throughout the years to succeed in life.

He has expanded his business, and it is running really well. Before he left, he said that I was his idol, which made me emotional. As an artiste, moments like these motivate me to keep working hard.
