Programmes postponed as precaution for coronavirus
From the biggest international concerts and conferences to the smallest community gatherings, organisers are either cancelling, postponing or rescheduling the events over public health concerns due to coronavirus.
Austin, Texas, canceled the 34th-annual South by Southwest festival (SXSW), after Apple, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok, withdrew their participation. The extensive music, tech and film festival was to run from 13-22 March. Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, which takes place in Southern California, is postponed and rescheduled to take place on 9-11 October. The New York International Auto Show that was scheduled for April has been postponed and is rescheduled for August.
Widespread closings were announced throughout the world this week. Ireland's government canceled all St. Patrick's Day parades, while Tokyo's Nakameguro district canceled its annual Cherry Blossom Festival. The Prague International Film Festival has been canceled as the virus spreads in Europe, with hopes of rescheduling next year.
A number of films' release including the new Bond film, No Time to Die has been rescheduled. Mariah Carey, Madonna, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Green Day and BTS have cancelled several shows and concerts. Several precautions to limit public gathering is being taken worldwide with hopes to limit the spread of coronavirus.
