‘Shliper Kalyane Abritty’ held at BSA
As a tribute to the renowned theatre personality Ishrat Nishat, Abritty Kollan Trust, with the help of Bangladesh Abritty Somonnoy Parishad, arranged a poetry recital programme titled, Shilper Kalyane Abritty at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), recently.
Former Cultural Minister and the President of Bangladesh Abritty Songothon, Asaduzzaman Noor, MP, eminent elocutionist Shimul Mustapha, Bangladesh Film Fest award winning actor-director- singer Shimul Yousuf, popular artiste Hasan Arif, and Ishrat Nishat’s sister Nusrat Anwar were present at the event, among others.
The programme began with speeches by the guests commemorating the thespian Ishrat Nishat. To encourage artistes in keeping their art practices, Abritty Kollan Trust provided a grant of BDT 2 lac to Fakhrul Islam Tara, and an amount of BDT 1 lac each were granted to Shimul Mustapha, Roya Chowdhury and Aporajita Hossain.
The session was followed by a cultural programme featuring poetry recitals. Fakhrul Islam Tara recited the poems, Bodhu by Sukanta Bhattacharya, Shonar Medal by Purnendu Putri, and Bharatbarsha by Debesh Thakur. Progga Laboni recited 8 poems by Kazi Nazrul Islam, Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, Nirmalendu Goon, Sunendra Banerjee, Shamsur Rahman, Achintya Kumar Sengupta, Rudra Goswami and Rabindranath Tagore, respectively.
Renowned elocutionist and eye surgeon Dr Mahbubur Rahman Chowdhury, next took the stage, reciting two poems-- Mofazzal Karim’s Nesha and Srijan Sen’s Matribhumit Jonno.
The evening concluded with Asaduzzaman Noor’s recital. He also narrated a comedy about a man who losses his Lungi to bank robbers during a robbery. Due to having inadequate bags with them, the robbers snatches the Lungi of the man to carry money. This story offered comic relief to the audience.
