Three-month exhibition ‘Brihatta Home Art Project 2020’ kicks off
A three-month group art exhibition, "Brihatta Home Art Project 2020", kicked off at Bengal Shilpalay yesterday. It is jointly organised by Brihatta Art Foundation and Bengal Arts Programme. Tanzim Wahab, Chief Curator, Bengal Arts Programme, is the curator of the exhibition.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest. Distinguished artist Rafiqun Nabi, and Chairman of Crystal Insurance Ltd Abdullah Al Mahmud, were the special guests. Bishwajit Goswami, Artistic Director of the project, spoke at the event, presided over by Luva Nahid Choudhury, Director General of Bengal Foundation.
"This initiative deserves praise for engaging artists, even in these difficult times," said Dr Dipu Moni. "In spite of adversities, artistic practices are prospering, and we hope that they continue to do so." Rafiqun Nabi thanked the participating artists for brilliantly showcasing the challenges brought on by the pandemic, in their works.
"Brihatta Home Art Project" was started last year by Bishwajit Goswami, with a number of like-minded artists. They hoped to overcome the obstacles caused by the Covid-19 crisis, and regain vitality in new ventures. On the project, a group of artists were encouraged to create new works of art, in light of their experiences. Under the mentorship of artists Dhali Al Mamun, Bishwajit Goswami, and Mahbubur Rahman, the exploratory perspectives of 14 emerging artists are presented in various mediums at the exhibition, which concludes on June 12, 2021.
This event, featuring talented artists, carries special significance, in celebration of Mujib Barsha and 50 years of Bangladesh's independence.
