Puppet show at Baishakhi mela

Children of Bogra district were enthralled by a traditional puppet show at the five-day Baishakhi mela at Edward Park (Municipality Park) in Bogra.

“Royal Bina” puppet show from Brammanbaria came to Bogra for the event. Owned by Dhon Mia from Brammanbaria, "Royal Bina" has given successful performances in Russia, Indonesia and other countries.

Four varieties of puppets were seen at the show:“Tarer putul”, “Lathi putul”, “Chaya putul” and “Beni putul”.

Dhon Mia said that he and his team had been trying to keep alive the traditional form of entertainment but it was very difficult to infuse life into lifeless characters.

Representative of Bogra Theatre Sizul Islam said that they had arranged the puppet show to showcase the culture of rural Bangladesh.
