Shwapnil and Battery Dance collaborate for 'The Dreamer'
A new musical titled The Dreamer is soon to grace us as talented singer Shwapnil Shojib channels the spirit of Tagore and collaborates with New York-based dance company, Battery Dance. The video is being produced by Bengal Multimedia and RTV, with special support from the US Embassy in Dhaka. The artistes will recreate one of Rabindranath Tagore's immortal creations, Purano Shei Diner Kotha. The artistic director of the musical is Jonathan Hollander, an internationally renowned choreographer. The dancers who will take part in the video are Robin Cantrell, Mira Cook, Bethany Mitchell, Sean Scantlebury and Unnath Hassan Rathnaraju. “I am very grateful to have been able to collaborate with such wonderful performers,” says Shwapnil, “and I am confident that people will love this video.” According to Shwapnil, the video is based on a story-driven narrative where a young man sees the American dance troupe practicing in their hall, and imagines them dancing along with his song. The video's concept was penned by Syed Ashikur Rahman, CEO of RTV and it will release on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
