Nrityanchal Utshab to begin at BSA
Noted dance school Nrityanchal in association with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) is organising a three-day (April 27-29) Nrityanchal Utshab at National Theatre Hall (NTH) and Nandanmancha of BSA. A press conference was held in this connection at Dhaka Reporters' Unity on April 23. Coordinator of Nrityanchal Muhammad Jahangir and director duo –Shibly Mohammad and Shameem Ara Nipa spoke at the press meet.
Legendary Bharatanatyam dancer Leela Samson will inaugurate the festival as chief guest while Mustafa Manwar, noted cultural personality, will attend the event as special guest. The organisers will also honour Nrityaguru Rahija Khanam Jhunu at the programme.
Directed by Shibly Mohammad, about 250 artistes of Nrityanchal will perform in a Kathak Nritya Sandhya at 7pm on April 27 at NTH of BSA. Nrityanchal, joining hands with Srishti Cultural Centre, will present dance-drama "Badi Bandar Roopkatha" adapting from the historical saga "Ali Baba O Chollish Chor". Directed by Sukalyan Bhattacharya, about 80 artistes of both the troupes including Shibly Mohammad, Shameem Ara Nipa, Anisul Islam Hero, Sukalyan Bhattacharya and Dolly Iqbal will feature the production at NTH of BSA at7pm on April 28.
The concluding day of the festival will see a dance performance by 25 underprivileged and differently abled artistes in and outside Dhaka. Nrityanchal artistes will also perform with them at Nandanmancha of BSA.
