Swapnadal's “Tringsha Shatabdi” traveling to London
Theatre troupe Swapnadal's anti-war production "Tringsha Shatabdi" has been selected for London Tower Hamlets Counsil's 'A Season of Bangla Drama', a month-long festival starting November 1. Three stagings of the play will be held at the Brady Arts Centre on November 6 and 7. The troupe is expected to leave for London on November 4 and return on November 11.
Written by Badal Sircar and adapted by Swapnadal's chief Zahid Repon, the play is a portrayal of the aftermath of the Hiroshima-Nagasaki bomb blast during the World War II, with undertones of many later wars and their impact.
Aside from the staging, Zahid Repon has also been invited to give a masterclass on theatre at the Queen Mary University of London, and give interviews to a number of channels, including BBC Asian Network Radio.
