Independence Day special drama “Yahya Khan”
A special TV drama “Yahya Khan”, marking Independence Day, will be telecast today at 7:45pm on Desh TV. Written and directed by Imraul Rafat, the drama casts Maznun Mizan and Tariq Anam Khan in the leading roles.
A son is born in a zamindar family of East Pakistan in 1969, and his parents name him Yahya Khan, matching to the name of the erstwhile new president of Pakistan. After the Liberation War, Yahya goes to school and is tormented for his name. His name makes him the subject of ill treatment and hate, although he is not a bad person. He tries to do good to the society but no one takes him positively just because of his name. He changes his name but people still remember him by the old name. When a new road to be built in the village has to go over Yahya's land, he agrees on the condition that the naming will be on his choice. People of the locality protest it strongly, but on the day of the unveiling they see the road is called Shahid Rouf road, honouring a Freedom Fighter. Yahya laments to people that they have remembered the name of Yahya Khan, but have forgotten the name of their own Freedom Fighter.
