Mir Sabbir From strength to strength

Mir Sabbir

Aside from being a popular television actor, Mir Sabbir has made his mark as a talented director as well. His series “Noashaal” has aired over 500 episodes, and he plays significant roles in four drama series currently on air. The busy actor recently elaborated upon his ventures in a conversation with The Daily Star.

Which of your series are currently on air?

Mir Sabbir: “Prem Nagar” is currently aired by Maasranga Television, while “Birombona” and “420” are telecast on Bangla Vision and Boishakhi Television respectively. Asian TV is airing “Shalish Mani Taalgaach Amar” and “Noashaal” is aired by Rtv.

What has audience response been like to these five series ventures?

Mir Sabbir: I appear in varied roles in these plays. There is no similarity in my characters and the narratives and they have all gotten positive feedback so far.

“Noashaal” has aired many episodes so far; how many more do you plan to add?

Mir Sabbir: So far we have aired 566 episodes, and aside from being a director, I play the role of Ajmal. The show has garnered popularity since it first began airing, and it is difficult to predict how long it will keep running. It all depends on the audience's demands.

What aspirations do you have as a director?

Mir Sabbir: My first love is acting, and direction is something I dabble in on the side. I don't plan to take credit for too many ventures, and I am very selective in the work that I do to ensure I deliver quality content for the viewers. I plan to direct two new ventures; several of my TV plays were aired during Eid and I am currently planning two new ventures.

Which is more challenging, acting or directing?

Mir Sabbir: They're both difficult in their own ways, and no matter what you do, you have to work very hard.

What other new ventures are you working on?

Mir Sabbir: There's quite a few in the works, and I have filming nearly every day. Some are for drama series that are already on air, and some are new, unreleased ventures.
