The Semi-finals:Only two spots left for grabs
Then there were three. That is where we stand at the moment, with three participants from thousands standing right on the cusp of greatness. These three individuals have passed numerous hurdles and in the process have solidified their reputations as chefs. Though it has not been an easy task, the three that stand before you almost made everything seem easy. Umme Kulsum, the doctor, has proven throughout the competition to be one of the most innovative chefs in the competition, whose presentation can hardly be matched by others. Then, there is Nadim Sarker; the most skilled wielder of the knife, Nadim is a popular choice, not only because of his technique but because he looks the part too. Finally, there is Jebunessa Khan. The housewife who shook the world, Jebunessa epitomises the very concept of the underdog. No one expected her to come so far but she has and she has triumphed on the sheer will and character. Jebunessa has consistently delivered quality food and she cannot be written off either. The fact that three equally competent competitors are vying for the last two spots makes this episode one of the most fascinating.
However, there is another dimension that will add to tonight's episode. Frédéric Olivier Insisienmay, co-founder of T2H company -- who specialises in Bourgeoise cuisine which literally means traditional French comfort food, will be the guest judge for tonight's episode. He will be preparing a special dish called the Christmas Log. This will involve using techniques never been seen before on Bangladeshi TV and thus will be expected to be a difficult dish to master. However, the participants will have little time to learn the process as shown by Chef Frédéric and then mimic it as closely as possibly. Since the dish is a complicated one with many steps, not only will it be hard to recreate but the steps themselves will be hard to remember.
Last week, SM Shakib bid farewell to the competition. He failed to make his dish yet started all over again but it was too late. While it was a miracle by itself that Shakib managed to put something on the plate, the end product just was not good enough. Hence, the remaining three must learn from Shakib's mistakes and remember to consider each part of the process as significant as any other. There will be no 'tike thakar lorai' this time around because failure now means immediate exit. Who will make it past the semi-finals? What will be the losing participant's undoing? Will anyone even manage to follow Frédéric's directions? All of these questions and more will be answered in tonight's episode of Rupchanda-The Daily Star Super Chef 2015. Tune into ntv tonight, sharp at 9pm. Watch history as it is being made.
