WHEN TEAMS COLLIDE

Rupchanda-The Daily Star Super Chef 2015 airs tonight with a brand new challenge for the participants to conquer and the viewers to enjoy. Like last week's episode, the participants will be unaware of the challenge that awaits them. Many may have negotiated the tricky 'jadoor baksho' (magic box) but this episode's challenge will test more than our participant's culinary skills. 

This week, the judges have decided to toss in a team challenge. The participants will be divided into two teams. Team captains, who will be predetermined, will get to choose their team members. Expect last week's safe participants to go toe to toe against each other. But what will be even more surprising is that if they end up together on the same team.

Similarly, it will be interesting to see where the love bird pair of Farjina and Navid end up. Will they be on the same team or will they be made to oppose each other? And how would they react if the latter did happen? Remember, Farjina had already said that she was here to win and while competing there was no room for other things. Navid too had agreed with that very sentiment. Speaking of such dynamics, with tension heating up between Nadim and Sakib, expect more fireworks to be present on that end as well. 

The remaining 14 participants, while cordial and friendly with each other most of the time, have never actually worked in a team. Plus, it remains to be seen whether the participants really know each other's strength and weaknesses. Many times, we have seen the best chefs collapse because they have never worked in a team. But to be a Super Chef one must be a leader, and also a team player. Thus, this challenge is designed to test those very aspects of the participants; their teamwork and leadership qualities.

There will be eliminations today as well, but the question remains who will decide who is eliminated. Will it be the teammates laying the blame that will spell doom for a participant, or will the judges spotting it themselves? Another question one must wonder is whether it will be best to be the captain or not. How much pressure will the team leaders face and ultimately can they be held responsible if their team falters? 

This week's episode of Rupchanda-The Daily Star Super Chef promises to be an exciting one, something that has been a consistent feature of the show this year around. The team challenge is expected to add something different from what we have been seeing in the previous week. Unfortunately for the participants, every week the challenges will be getting more and more difficult.
