3 Bangladeshi arrested for gambling in Malaysia
Three Bangladeshi men have been detained following a raid on an illegal gambling joint in Malaysia's Medan Niaga Tasik Damai of Sungai Besi.
Three simulator machines, three simulator top up cards and RM400 in cash were seized following the raid conducted by a team from the Cheras district police headquarters at about 11:30pm yesterday.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said one of the men arrested was the caretaker while the other two were customers.
"The customers were in the midst of playing the games when police stormed the building. We believe the gambling joint had been in operation for two days," he said when contacted.
In another operation, police discovered a gambling centre operating from a condominium in Cheras after a fire was reported from the premises.
ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said police seized 16 mobile phones, five routers, 2 modems, 18 keyboards, 18 CPUs and 16 monitors from the condominium in Taman Pertama, Cheras.
"We were informed by the Fire and Rescue Department about the fire at about 12:00pm on yesterday. When we reached the location, we discovered several equipments believed to be used by an illegal gambling syndicate," he said.
He added that the occupants of the unit fled before firemen reached the area.
"We believe they have been in operation for about two months. The unit was rented by a Chinese national," ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said.
